Lafz is built to be data-minimal. Your progress, preferences, FSRS scheduling state, and streak data are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard mechanisms, and synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store under your Apple ID. Data leaves your device only for: Game Center leaderboards and achievements you opt into, in-app purchases processed by Apple and RevenueCat, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, and Google AdMob ads in the free version.
Free users see Google AdMob banner and interstitial ads. Subscribers see no ads. For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Brazil, the app displays Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form on first launch in compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, and LGPD. You can re-open this form at any time from Profile → Privacy choices; outside those regions, that link opens this Privacy Policy directly.
On iOS 14.5 and later, Lafz also presents the system App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Choosing "Allow" enables AdMob to serve personalized ads using your advertising identifier (IDFA); choosing "Ask App Not to Track" limits Lafz to non-personalized ad inventory only. Your choice can be changed at any time under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and has no effect on app functionality. AdMob's privacy practices are documented at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Firebase Analytics collects pseudonymous event logs (e.g. session_started, word_mastered) so we can understand which features are used and how. Firebase Crashlytics records stack traces and device metadata when the app crashes so we can fix bugs. Neither service receives your name, email, or any personal identifier you haven't typed in yourself. Both are operated by Google and governed by their privacy policies.
Your on-device data is protected by standard iOS device security. The developers have no access to it — Apple holds the iCloud-synced copy under your Apple ID. Uninstalling the app removes the local copy; signing out of iCloud or deleting the app's iCloud entries removes the synced copy.
Lafz is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Game Center accounts for users under 13 are managed by Apple's parental-control system; we do not link such accounts to leaderboards without parental authorization.

You control your local data. You can clear progress in the app, sign out of iCloud, or delete the app at any time. To request deletion of analytics or crash records tied to your device identifier, email the address below.
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the Effective Date above; significant changes will be noted in-app at next launch.
